Toledo School of Translators has a consolidated group of researchers who belong to the Castilla-La Mancha University. All members of this group are doctors or superior graduated people in the Semitic studies field (Arabic and Hebrew Philology) and Hispanics, as well as translation and interpretation. Thus, this is a research group with a multidisciplinary character and with a desire to bring together all thematic areas to acquire an ample perspective and rich methodology and objectives.

While this is an emergent research group, all its members are linked to more than two decades of collaboration in: 1) training Arab-Hebrew-Spanish translators with Masters, worshops, intensive courses, etc.; 2) the production of learning and self-learning materials of Arabic as a foreign language and translations and interpretation; 3) the development of translation programmes and of classic and modern Arab literature thought edition and 4) the organization of about thirty national and international congresses about the creation and the translation in the Mediterranean.

The broad experience that the majority of its members have in this field is highly noticeable, as it can be noticed from their curricula and the large number of scientific publications that they amass. In addition, their participation in numerous research projects with public as well as private funds is noticeable.

The fact that Toledo School of Translators’ research personnel are part of the co-workers group give them not only an experience bonus in working on groups and all things related to congress, conferences and scientific meeting, translation programmes, etc., but it also guarantee a future impact on the group.

Additionally, relying on the participation of these researchers specialised in Spanish language and literature and cultural studies, it brings the opportunity to explore new ways of investigations and provide a multidisciplinary approach. One of these shared studies is focused on children and adolescence’s literature, in which María Antonia Ortiz and Gemma Gómez have a wide experience from the perspective of comparative literature (Spanish-Arabic) and that, at the same time, shares the same interest with Toledo School of Translators in terms of Arabic literature and its translations, bearing in mind the most unknown genres to Spaniards, being children and adolescence’s literature one of those. This way, one of the shared research areas among members of this group is the analysis and study of the Semitic and Eastern elements’ influence in the Spanish medieval literature.

Luis Miguel Pérez Cañada (Alhucemas, 1964) has a doctorate in Translation by Málaga University, graduated in Semitic Philology and a Master in Library Science applied to Arabic funds by Granada University. He is professor in Arabic Language and Culture in Toledo Faculty of Education (Castilla-La Mancha University) since September 2006, and director in Toledo School of Translators since 1996. He has taught lessons on translation and Spanish in Bagdad, Cairo, Tangier and Saint-Joseph of Beirut Universities, among others. As a literary translator Luis Miguel has published in several Spanish commercial publishers and twenty Arabic and French translations (novel, poetry, autobiography, children’s literature, etc.) Regarding the research field, he is specialised in history, teaching and translation analysis. He received the “International Translation Award” in 2013 for his labour and dissemination of the Arabic language and culture. He also won the “Great Order of Sciences and Arts” given by the Palestinian State in 2014 because of his support and dissemination of the Arabic literature and thought.

Antonia María Ortiz Ballesteros, who has a doctorate in Hispanic Philology by the Autónoma University of Madrid (UAM in Spanish), began her professional career in textual edition with regard to the Golden Age, collaborating in the mss. Poetics of the 16^th and 17^th Century Catalogue in the Madrid National Library. Her thesis’ title is Edición crítica de la poesía de Diego de Silva y Mendoza, marqués de Alenquer (1992).

She has combined secondary education, as a tenured teacher since 1994, with higher education, as a part-time professor until 2009, from the moment when she started a job as principal in the area of Language and Literature Teaching in the Faculty of Education in Toledo.

Editor of the 4th volumen of Luis Rosales Works and collaborator with different magazines: ANILIK, CLIJ, Lenguaje y Textos, Per Abbat, Cálamo-Faspe… Among her working lines appear, in addition to popular literature, an interdisciplinary research in youthful literature and literary education. Among her works we hand out Preparar para El Quijote: aportaciones de la narrative juvenile Española; middle Age and youthgful literature: strategy and resources (I) and El derecho de los jóvenes a no leer El Quijote. Gema Gómez Rubio achieved her doctorate in Hispanic Philology in the UCLM with La configuración de las tragedias de Rojas Zorrilla thesis in 2008. For some years, Gema has been a university teacher in La Rioja (2004-2008) and Jaén (2009-2010). She recently works as an assistant lecturer in the Language and Literature Teaching Department in Toledo Faculty of Education. Among her research works stand out The Golden Age theatre (Francisco de Rojas Zorrilla), modern theatre (Juan Mayorga), youthful literature (bulling in the modern youthful literature) or the transmission of fables and folk tales.

Lidia Fernández Fonfría has a graduate in both Arabic and Hispanic Philology in Salamanca Unversity. As for her postgraduate studies, she achieved the DEA in Arabic and Islamic studies in 2012 in Salamanca University and Modern Arabic and Islamic Studies Master in Autónoma University of Madrid in 2011. She is recently finishing her doctoral thesis about the political-religious thought and discourse state in the Post-colonial Morocco.

She is a researcher in Toledo School of Translators (UCLM), and she has previously worked in different universities and research centres as for example Alcalá de Henares University, Murcia University, Abdelmalek Essaadi University (Tétouan), and CSIC as a researcher and as a teacher of Arabic and Hispanic studies.

As for the research field, she is specialized in Morocco, both the analysis of its official discourse and legitimising operations, as the history of Morocco from the Middle Age until today. Throughout all his career, Salvador has worked as an assistant professor and collaborator in the Spanish universities of Granada and Málaga, as well as the University Of Bagdad, Iraq, where he has also worked as an institutional translator in the Ministry of Culture. What is more, he is an assistant collaborator of Toledo School of Translators since 1994.

He has worked as a researcher in R&D projects, and among his numerous publications, it is important to highlight the academic and dissemination ones. Juan Pablo Arias Torres (Benamejí, 1968) is a doctor in Semitic Philology in Granada University (1995). His first researchers are addressed to the history of Arabic linguistics, and andalusí concretely (Estudios léxicos en al-Ándalus (siglos SV H./ XII C.); Un poco de lexicografía árabe, Málaga, 1996 doctoral thesis), a labour that he is still working with trough his collaboration with Enciclopedia de la Cultura Andalusí. He is a member of the Translation and Interpretation Department in Málaga University. He is interested in descriptive studies of Translation (El papel del traductor, Salamanca, 1997: Emigración, traducción y culturas, Cuenca, 1997), as well as the history of Arabic-Spanish translation (Arabismo y traducción, Madrid, 2003; Los traductores del árabe del Estado español: del Protectorado a nuestros días, 2012). The last few years he has collaborated on several research projects about Islamic codicology (El manuscrito andalusí: hacia una denominación de origen, Sevilla, 2008).

His educational work is linked to a Translation and Interpretation Degree in UMA, where he has taught Arabic language, and both general and specialised translation. To the same extent, he has been teacher in different doctorate courses, as well as in Translation for the Editorial World Master in Málaga. Juan Pablo has been co-worker teacher in Arabic- Spanish Translation specialized course in Toledo School of Translators, where he has imparted a course in translation of the Religious discourse.

It should be pointed out his labour as literary translator, among which is worth noting Quince relatos muy cortos by Mahmud Shuqair included in the anthology of Palestinian authors Bajo la ocupación (Málaga), the Palestinian children’s book translation Cartas de allende el río (Málaga, 2005) or El llanto de la rosa (Málaga, 2007), a book of poems by the Palestinian poet Máyid Abu Gush or a selection of poems written by the same author published in Lo que queda del naranjo. Palestina en el corazón (Málaga, 2009). He has recently translated the novel of the Egyptian writer Reem Bassiouney Profesora Haná into Spanish (Ed. Ignacio Gutiérrez de Terán Gómez-Benita, a professor in the Arabic and Islamic Department, and East studies in the Autónoma University of Madrid, where he is doctor since 2000. He became Arabic-Spanish legal translator and interpreter in 1999. He has imparted journalistic and economic translation workshops in Toledo School of Translators, and specialization courses of translation in the Ministry of Internal Affairs and other institutions. In the same way, he has translated several modern Arabic novels written by Ibrahim al-Kuni, Bahaa al-Táhir and Alia Mamduh, for instance, into Arabic. Among his research works in literature and translation, it stands out the one focused on Arabic erotic literature, from which “Esparcimiento de corazones” by Shihab al-Din al-Tifashi and El jardín perfumado by al-Shayj al-Nafzawi, have been translated into Spanish. He has translated Viaje a Marruecos by Ali Bey (Domingo Bedía) from Spanish into Arabic.

Manuel Feria works as a professor in Granda University, where he shares his experience in sworn translation. He was legal translator (Arabic- Spanish) in the Court of Málaga for six years. He has also been sworn translator (Arabic-Spanish), and a free-lance external translator in the Spanish section of the UN in Geneva (Arabic and English into Spanish) since 2009. He is author of different books and more than thirty articles about translation, Islamic law, and terminology, among others. What he enjoyed the most was to write his Diccionario de términos jurídicos árabe-español (Ed. Ariel, Barcelona, 2006) and Los traductores de árabe del Estado español. Del Protectorado a nuestros días (Ed. Bellaterra Barcelona, 2012).

Francisco Moscoso García is a professor in Moroccan Arabic and standard Arabic in Arabic, Islamic and East studies Department of the Autónoma University of Madrid. He has also been professor in Cádiz and Alicante Universities. His research work is focused on Arabic dialects, Moroccan Arabic teaching and the oral tradition in the Magreb. He has translated and published several collections of poems written by the zejeleros Mourad Kadiri and Ahmed Lemsyeh, and two Abdelghani Abou El Aazm novels.

Pablo García Suárez, who has graduated in Semitic Philology in the Complutense University of Madrid, is Arabic sworn translator and honorary professor in the Autónoma University of Madrid. Apart from being translator of several novels from Arabic into Spanish, he has worked in the International Service of the Arabic Language in EFE Agency for several years, where he has developed some translations from Spanish to Arabic and news edition. He is professor of the Toledo School of Translators since 2001, and editor and documentalist of the bibliographic database of Index Islamicus. In the same way, he has been co-author in Art and architecture in the Islamic world y Bibliography of Jews in the Islamic world bibliography, which won the AJL RAS Division 2011 Bibliography Award, given by the Association of Jewish Libraries.
