Desde septiembre de 2006 es Profesor de Lengua y Cultura Árabe de la Facultad de Educación de Toledo (Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha) y director de la Escuela de Traductores de Toledo, centro al que se incorporó en 1996.
Ha impartido clases de traducción y de español en las universidades de Bagdad, El Cairo, Tánger y Saint-Joseph de Beirut, entre otras. Como traductor literario ha publicado en distintas editoriales comerciales españolas una veintena de traducciones del árabe y del francés (novela, poesía, autobiografía, literatura infantil, etc.). En el campo de la investigación está especializado en historia, didáctica y análisis de la traducción. En 2013 recibió el “Premio Internacional de Traducción Abdullah bin Abdulaziz”, por su labor de difusión de la lengua y la cultura árabes, y en 2014 recibió la “Orden de las Artes y las Letras”, que
