The answer to this question is the challenge of the European project MOMU (Moving towards Multiprofessional Work). This project is a KA2 project in the Erasmus + program where are going to work together mainly social workers, artists, journalists and psychologists from four countries: Finland, United Kingdom, Estonia and Spain.
Throughout last week, the group of researchers from the University of Castilla-La Mancha led by Emilio José Gómez Ciriano, Professor at the Faculty of Social Work of Cuenca, has participated in the kick-off meeting of MOMU project in Turku, Finland. The purpose of this European project, according to Gomez Ciriano is “rely on the two flagships of European Commissions Europe 2020 Strategy, on the one hand, the acquisition of new skills in a new changing labor market; and on the other hand, fight against poverty and social exclusion by preventing youth social exclusion”. The main objective of MOMU is to define and develop the multiprofessional work between professional social work and the arts.
The project group a consortium of four European universities: University of Applied Sciences Turku, Finland, which is the project coordinator; Manchester Metropolitan University, UK; the Viljandi Culture Academy of Tartu University, Estonia; and the University of Castilla-La Mancha. Over a week, HE lectures and researchers have outlined the method to work together over the next three years on this project. Different perspectives, different realities, but a common goal as Gomez Ciriano said: “to find the way to work as a multiprofessional, collaborative and innovative group between different degrees and professionals, in order to find effective solutions to reduce the vulnerability of young people and increase their employability “.
The UCLM working group is formed by HE lectures and researchers of Social Work (Emilio José Gómez Ciriano and Esther Mercado García), Political Science (Fernando Casas Mínguez), Psychology (Cristina Serna Sarrato), Fine Arts (Óscar Martínez Martín) and Journalism (José María Herranz de la Casa).This is the first KA2 project that obtains the University of Castilla-La Mancha in the Erasmus + program. It is expected to attend various social organizations, governments and public and private institutions, in addition to UCLM students. In September 2016 an International Seminar will be held on the campus of Cuenca where the first results of the project will be presented and discussed.
The answer to the first question is “yes”, it is possible a collaborative work between a social worker, a psychologist, an artist and / or a journalist; the question is to reveal what are the keys to make this multiprofessional work effective to reduce the vulnerability of young people; and also it is important to develop a handbook to train other HE lectures in this competences.
