Last Friday, 15-July-2016, the thesis entitled “Approaches for quantitative and qualitative analysis of complex systems: Algorithms and case studies” was presented in the Viva, at the Industrial Engineering school of Ciudad Real (University of Castilla-La Mancha, Spain), by the author Mr. Alberto Pliego Marugán. The director has been Dr. Fausto Pedro García Márquez, both members of Ingenium Research Group.
The aforementioned Thesis introduces several contributions and novelties in operation research, particularly, in the fields of preventive and predictive maintenance of complex systems. This work aims to give an adequate response to different needs of some companies that lead the renewable energy sector. These companies have revealed their interest in this work in the framework of European / National Research Projects.
Several algorithms and case studies have been developed in order to facilitate complex processes such as Big Data analysis, qualitative and quantitative analysis, reliability analysis, prognostics and diagnostics tasks, allocation of resources and decision making.
The work received the degree of “international Thesis” and it is endorsed by a remarkable scientific outcomes, e.g., JCR papers in JCR (3 published and 5 under revision), 9 international conference papers, an international award, 3 chapter books, 1 patent, two monographies in Pearson (Prentice-Hall) and Elsevier, etc.
