Associate Professor at the Department of Geography and Spatial Planning at the Faculty of Education, University of Castilla-La Mancha. National Award from the Spanish Geography Association (2021) for Geographic Innovation in Higher Education for the project ¡Nosotros Proponemos!. Entrepreneurial Alumni Award from UCLM (2022).
She holds a Ph.D. in Geography, a Master’s in Territorial Planning, Environment, Landscape, and Sustainability, and a Specialist Degree in Urban Law of Castilla-La Mancha. Her doctoral thesis was titled Urban Transformations of Ciudad Real 1980-2008.
She has been a visiting professor at European and American universities. She worked in the United States at Michigan State University (2017) with the prestigious FULBRIGHT scholarship. She has also conducted research stays at King’s College London (2012), the University of Lisbon (2014, 2016, and 2019), and Cologne (2013), as well as at Ibero-American universities such as the University of São Paulo (2016) and the National Autonomous University of Mexico (2021). She has led development cooperation projects in Ibero-America, specifically in El Salvador and Bogotá.
She has participated in and led various European KA220-HED projects, including VGlobal and V-GeoSciEd.
Her three major research areas in geography are:
- Educational Innovation, focusing on citizen participation, critical thinking, and the use of inclusive virtual field trips (Virtual Field Trips) to develop educational itineraries in protected areas.
- Urban Planning in Medium-Sized Cities.
- Current and Historical Geodemographics, particularly related to the Cadastre of the Marquis of Ensenada.
Her research and work transfer to society has always been a priority. In addition to teaching, she is:
- A consulting member of the Heritage Commission of the Province of Ciudad Real.
- Vice President of the Institute of Manchegan Studies.
- A board member of Geoforo, one of the main Ibero-American geography forums.
- Director in Spain of the international project ¡Nosotros Proponemos! – Citizenship, Sustainability, and Innovation in Education, a citizen participation initiative between universities, schools, and public administrations.
