\ud83d\udea8\ud83c\udf0d Biodiversity Loss as a Financial Risk: Why It Matters<\/strong> \ud83c\udf0d\ud83d\udea8<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m pleased to share our new article published in the Journal of Sustainable Finance & Investment<\/em><\/strong>, co\u2011authored with Laura Garc\u00eda\u2011Jorcano<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this paper, we show that biodiversity loss is not only an environmental concern<\/strong>, but also a source of real financial risk<\/strong>. Our results reveal strong sector\u2011specific effects<\/strong>: biodiversity degradation shapes extreme losses, profits, and even system\u2011wide risk<\/strong>, with particularly pronounced impacts during periods of financial stress and crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The evidence suggests that the links between nature and financial markets<\/strong> are deeper and more relevant than is typically assumed in traditional risk analysis, and that overlooking biodiversity can lead to a mispricing of risk at both the sectoral and systemic levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
