“WE WANT TO DEVELOP and IMPLEMENT REMEDIATION TECHNOLOGIES BASED ON NATURAL PROCESSES AT DIFFERENT SCALES (e.g. artificial wetlands, WWTPs) and ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS (saline to hypersaline)“.
The Hydrogeology Group of the University of Castilla – La Mancha was created in 2009 with the initial purpose of increasing the knowledge on the hydrogeology of the Region and transferring it to the administrations with responsibilities in water resources management .
Currently, our knowledge, the available infrastructure and the technological support from different groups that collaborate with us, allow us to learn from (hyper-) saline systems about how they can biodegradate agricultural and urban pollutants.
Objectives:
- To know how groundwater abstractions affect the behavior of aquifer-surface water systems (rivers, wetlands).
- To know the origin, nature and fate of pollutants in natural systems.
- To couple 1 and 2 to flow and transport mathematical models.
- To apply the knowledge acquired to improve the water resources management.
