{"id":1671,"date":"2022-05-02T16:05:01","date_gmt":"2022-05-02T15:05:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.uclm.es\/grupogear\/?p=1671"},"modified":"2022-05-02T16:05:01","modified_gmt":"2022-05-02T15:05:01","slug":"new-publication-in-ecological-economics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.uclm.es\/grupogear\/2022\/05\/02\/new-publication-in-ecological-economics\/","title":{"rendered":"NEW PUBLICATION IN ECOLOGICAL ECONOMICS"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The GEAR members Luis Antonio L\u00f3pez, Mar\u00eda \u00c1ngeles Tobarra, Mar\u00eda \u00c1ngeles Cadarso y Nuria G\u00f3mez, in collaboration with Ignacio Cazcarro, Enrique Gilles, researcher at BC3 and University of Zaragoza, have recently published in Ecological Economics the paper entitled: \u00ab Eating local and in-season fruits and vegetables: Carbon-water-employment trade-offs and synergies\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This paper explores the\u00a0interactions among\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/topics\/economics-econometrics-and-finance\/greenhouse-gas-emissions\">carbon emissions<\/a>, scarce water use, and employment linked to imports and domestic production. The decision to consume domestic or imported products has consequences at different levels, this work allows us to compare the impact on greenhouse gases, water and the creation of new jobs by applying an innovative decisions analysis tool, the seasonal avoided footprint by imports (SAFM).
