A previous paper related to this project\nwas already published in <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s41467-019-09473-7\">Nature Communications<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this new paper, the authors reveal that,\nduring 2015, the emissions directly and indirectly generated by multinational\u2019s\nforeign affiliates operating within the European Union are estimated at 714 Mt\nof CO2, which accounts for 17% of the total carbon footprint of the European\nUnion. Although most of these carbon emissions are generated by foreign\naffiliates located in the United Kingdom and Germany, the findings suggest that\nlow-income EU-members receive higher amounts of emissions in relation to the\nvalue added created by the foreign affiliates they host. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The paper also provides valuable insights into\nthe potential for multinational corporations to become actors of change in\nterms of reducing global emissions by taking responsibility for the\nenvironmental impacts of their affiliates and suppliers worldwide and by\nspreading low-carbon practices across countries and industries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We strongly encourage you to read this great\narticle on a very interesting topic.
