I got my Bachelor Degree in architecture by the School of Architecture at the\u00a0 Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) in 1995. Specialist in installations and Facilities in building Refurbishment and Renovation. PhD from the UPM in 2004, as a result of four years Grant (1996-1999) for university teaching training. Thesis title: \u00abStabilization of clay mortar for the protection of earth walls.\u00bb<\/a><\/p>\nSince 1999 I\u00b4ve been sharing my time between professional works and academic activities at the University:<\/p>\n
TEACHING AT UNIVERSITY<\/strong><\/p>\n (1999-2004) Associate Professor of Architecture at the University of Alcal\u00e1 (UAH) School of Architecture in Alcal\u00e1 de Henares (Madrid). Courses: \u00abConstruction Materials\u00bb and \u00abBuliding Construction\u00bb<\/p>\n (2005-2022) lecturer and\u00a0 Associate Professor <\/strong>(2009), Department of Civil and Building Engineering at the University of Castilla – La Mancha. Teaching at Polytechnic School in Cuenca in the Degree of Building Engineering<\/a>. (2022-)\u00a0 Associate Professor<\/strong>,\u00a0 in the Department of Mechanical engineering\u00a0 \u00a0<\/a>at the University of Castilla – La Mancha. Teaching at the school of engineering<\/a> in the Degree and Master of Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Engineering. Courses: \u00abStructural engineering\u00bb<\/p>\n Since the beginning of my academic activity I believe firmly in hands-on learning methods which I find the best way to encourage students, you can find some of my experiences in this blog at INNOVATIVE TEACHING EXPERIENCES\u00a0 (INNOVACION EDUCATIVA)<\/a><\/p>\n RESEARCH AND PUBLICATIONS:<\/strong><\/p>\n Two main lines have kept my interest since I started my pre-doctorate research\u00a0 until now, and one lead to the other:<\/p>\n Building with earth:<\/strong> Traditional and new earth construction techniques (rammed earth, compressed earth blocks, adobe, and clay plaster). I have participated in several national research projects and also as consultant in earth construction for some modern buildings. You can find some of my relevant latest publications in this field at EARTH CONSTRUCTION (CONSTRUCCI\u00d3N CON TIERRA)<\/a><\/p>\n Energy efficiency and sustainable construction in buildings<\/strong> and environmental assessment: I\u00b4m associated member and hold the title of EA (Evaluador Acreditado) by Green Building Council -Espa\u00f1a (2011), and I\u00b4m associated member of the Spanish passivhaus association. (Plataforma Espa\u00f1ola Passivhaus). As a result of\u00a0my involvement in this issue I lead my university team in the international competition SOLARDECATHLON2014<\/a>, where we focused our project \u201csyimbcity\u201d on the regeneration of existing buildings and experimented passive and bioclimatic design strategies as the main issue to get indoor comfort conditions.
