In this course, you will explore the origins and persistence of economic inequality and how it shapes life chances. We will review key explanations, starting with the impact of family background and individual factors like education and employment. The course also examines how state policies, such as taxes and welfare programs, can either reduce or widen inequality.

Roxana is a postdoctoral researcher with a PhD in Social and Political Science from Bocconi University. Her research investigates ways in which family characteristics shape inequality across the life-course, as well as ways to reduce this inequality through social policy.
