CALENDAR 2021-22

Start of academic year: September, 1st.

Admission:

  • First period: July 15th to September 30th, 2021.
  • Second period (in case of vacancy in PhD program): November 3rd to December 17th, 2021.

Enrollment:

  • New students:In first period: October 18th to 29th, 2021. In second period: January 20th to February 10th, 2022. Out of these ordinary periods, the instructions in the comunication about admission must be considered.
  • Students in second year and following: October , 2021 (On-line).

INFORMATION

Application, admission and/or enrollment in a PhD in UCLM does NOT means at all the asignation of any labor contract, fellowship or any other economic fund.

In case, these grants must be requested separately in calls from diferent institutions as the UCLM itself, regional governments, and national or international organizations. In http://eid.uclm.es/en/calls-for-funds-in-doctorate/ are announced some of this calls refering to doctoral studies

Supervisor appointment: 
In admission or in 2 months following to enrollment in the PhD program.

Signature of supervision document :
In 3 months following to first enrollment in the PhD program.

The general specification required is having obtained at least 300 ECTS credits as a result of being in possession of a Spanish Degree and a University Master Diploma or their equivalents.

Furthermore, are eligible to apply for admission those who:

  1. hold an official university diploma within the European Higher Education Area, which habilitates for Master enrolment according to according to Section 16 of Royal Decree 1393/2007, of the 29th of October, and having obtained at least 300 ECTS credits within the both the graduate and master programmes, with a weight of at least 60 credits ECTS of Master.
  2. hold an official Spanish Graduate Diploma of at least 300 ECTS credits under Community Law. These applicants will need to comply with que equivalent compulsory access credits as per the research credits of their Master’s studies.
  3. as university graduates, have obtained a trainee post as a favourable result in the healthcare entrance examination have passed at least two trainee academic years in any Health Science specialty programme (MIR, FIR, QUIR, EIR, PIR, etc.)
  4. hold a degree obtained in foreign educational systems without the need of its approval, after being verified that the student accredits a training level equivalent to that of the official Master’s Degree that authorizes the access to doctoral studies in Spanish universities. This admission will not imply the homologation of the diploma or the acknowledgement to other effects, apart from those of doctoral admission.
  5. hold another Spanish doctoral diploma according to the previous university ordinances.
  6. hold a Bachelor’s Diploma, Engineering Degree or Diploma of Architect and obtained the Advanced Studies for Research Work Diploma as per de Royal Decree 778/1998, of the 30th of April, or reached the Research Competence according to the Royal Decree 185/1985, of the 23rd of January.
  7. hold an official university degree with a correspondence of level 3 of the Spanish Qualifications Framework for Higher Education, in accordance with the Royal Decree 967/2014, of November 21st, establishing the requirements and procedures for the official homologation and declaration of university degrees at their academic levels, the validation of foreign studies in Higher Education, and the procedure for determining the level correspondence of the Spanish Framework of Qualifications for Higher Education for the official degrees of Architect, Engineer, Graduate, Bachelor, Technical Architect, Technical Engineer and Diploma.
  8. hold a Diploma, Technical Engineer or Technical Architect degree and have obtained the level-2 correspondence of the Spanish Qualifications Framework for Higher Education (MECES) in accordance with the Royal Decree 967/2014, of 21st November, and which are also in possession of a University Master’s degree (60 or more ECTS credits).

PROCEDURES FOR THE ADMISSION REQUEST

  2. Ask any questions you may have related you prospect doctoral thesis and directors to the coordinator of the programme or the staff on your doctorate programme webpage. The choice of your prospect director can be requested filling in the following form: Escrito de presentación para acceso al doctorado.
  3. Check the enrolment end-date on “enrolment calendar and tuition” available at the top of this page.
  4. Prepare before accessing to the online prescription all the documentation you need. Check the requested documents in the link above.
  5. The admission request to the UCLM doctorate programmes can only be carried out through the Internet.

Before filling-in your admission request, please have into account the following points:

  1. User registry:

If you are a student of the UCLM, you are already registered with an assigned user and password. You must use them for logging in. If you do not remember your password, please go to:  https://mis.tic.uclm.es/credenciales/

If you are no longer a student of the UCLM or come from other university, you must register into the application. You will receive into your mailbox a username and password that you must use for logging into the enrolment webpage.

  1. Documents digitalization

Before filling-in your admission request, please prepare on PDF format all the required documentation in separate files inferior to 3MB.

NECESSARY DOCUMENTATION:

For all applicants

  • Spanish National Identity Card (DNI), NIE (residents) or passport (foreigners). Curriculum vitae using the following model: link to cv model. You can also use the standard model for researchers provided by the Fundación Española para la Ciencia y la Tecnología (FECYT): https://cvn.fecyt.es/editor
  • Written submission, using the following model: link to model.
  • Documents accrediting the specific requirements determined by the corresponding doctoral programme. To do so, please consult the information on the website of the doctoral programme to which you are applying for admission.

In addition, when accrediting degrees obtained at Spanish universities other than the University of Castilla-La Mancha:

  • First and/or second cycle degree or bachelor’s degree.
  • Postgraduate degree (Master’s, DEA, Research Proficiency, PhD).
  • Academic certification of qualifications of the first and/or second cycle or undergraduate and postgraduate studies that give access to the doctorate.

Graduates from universities in foreign countries whose degree is not recognised in Spain must present, in addition to all the above, the following documentation:

  • Graduates from universities in countries belonging to the European Higher Education Area (EHEA):
    • European Diploma Supplement (SET), or
    • Official Academic Certification (CAO) of the studies completed in Higher Education at Master’s level or equivalent, stating the official duration in academic years of the study programme, the subjects taken, the time load of each of them and the grade obtained, as well as the final average grade and, in the same document or in a separate one, the Certificate that EXPRESSLY accredits that the qualifications obtained allow access to Doctorate studies in the issuing country (issued by the University of origin or the Ministry of Education of their country).

  • Graduates from universities in countries outside the European Higher Education Area (EHEA):

Certificate that EXPRESSLY accredits that the qualifications obtained entitle the holder to access doctoral studies in the issuing country (issued by the University of origin or the Ministry of Education of the country of origin).

Diplomas and certificates must be presented legalised through diplomatic channels or, where applicable, by means of the apostille of the Hague Convention, except in the case of documents issued by the authorities of the member states of the European Union or signatories of the European Economic Area agreement. Documents issued in languages other than Spanish or English must be translated into Spanish (rules on legalisation and translation of documents).

STATE OF YOUR APPLICATION FORM

Once you have completed the form, your pre-enrolment request will be saved and you will receive a confirmation e-mail.

You will be able to access to your application form and modify it whenever you need while the pre-enrolment period is open and the application is in “pending review” status. You will also be able to upload documents to the document manager up to the moment of formalising your enrolment. After being reviewed, you will be informed by e-mail whether everything is correct or in case you need to submit further documentation.

You will also be able to check the status of your admission application at any time by logging in with your username and password. The states in which your application can be at that moment are:

    • Pending review: The documentation and content of your application have not yet been reviewed by the International Doctoral School.
    • Pending documentation: It has been reviewed and you have been notified of the lack of documentation and the deadline to correct it.
    • Invalid: Application reviewed by the International Doctoral School that does not meet the admission requirements.
    • Validated: and the application and documentation provided have been reviewed by the International Doctoral School and are correct. The admission is pending of approval or exclusion by the Academic Committee of the corresponding doctoral programme.
    • Admitted: You have been awarded a place in the admission process and you are ready to enrol.
    • Excluded: You have not obtained a place in the admission process. The reason why you have not been admitted will appear on the screen.

 

REGISTRATION AND PRESENTATION OF ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS

Once you have been admitted, you must register at one of the Campus Student Management Units, within the established deadlines. See the “access and enrolment calendar” at the top of this page.

If your documents are issued by foreign organisations, do not forget that they must be duly legalised and, if necessary, translated. Consult the following link on legalisation and translation of documents: http://eid.uclm.es/procedimiento-legalizaciondocumentos/. Studies carried out in the European Union do not require legalisation.

Your enrolment will be formalised after presenting to the corresponding Student Management Unit the originals and copies of all documents and certificates included in your pre-enrolment form, in order to verify the veracity of the access data. Otherwise, your enrolment will be automatically cancelled.

  1. The Academic Committee of the doctoral programme will decide whether the applicant is eligible or not, considering the criteria established in chapter 8 of the Regulations for Doctoral Studies at the University of Castilla-La Mancha. The specific admission criteria for each doctoral programme will be published on their respective websites.
  2. Admission may include the requirement of specific training complements at Official Master’s Degree level. In this case, these training complements must be completed during the first year of academic supervision or, if the doctoral student is a part-time student, during two years of supervision, at a rate of 30 credits per year without exceeding the 60 credits. For the purposes of public prices and the awarding of scholarships and study grants, these credits will be considered as doctoral level training, and their development will not count towards the limit established in chapter 3.2 of the Royal Decree 99/2011, of 28th of January, which regulates the official doctoral studies.
  3. The admission will be communicated to applicants by e-mail, so that they can proceed to formalise the registration of the Doctoral Thesis Tutelage and, where appropriate, the training complements in the Student Management Units of their campus (UGAC).
  4. The Academic Committee of the doctoral programme may proceed to the conditional pre-admission of the candidate when the applicant, being in possession of the required qualification, is pending for the formalisation of the supporting documentation or other administrative requirements (legalisation of foreign documents, translation of degrees and certifications, etc.). In any case, the campus Student Management Units will check the eligibility of the formalised documentation before issuing the supervision tuition fee.
  1. Each academic year and until the defence of the thesis, the doctoral students must register for academic supervision at the University of Castilla-La Mancha.
  2. This registration will be formalised at the Student Management Unit of the campus where the doctoral student will mainly carry out his/her activity.
  3. Admitted students who have not formalised their enrolment procedure will lose their place on the programme and will need to request their readmission of enrolment.
  4. Doctoral students may apply for temporary withdrawal from the programme by following the procedure published at the following link: Application to temporary leaves in doctorate in UCLM.
  5. If the student fails to enrol each year without having previously requested their temporary withdrawal from the programme, it will be understood that they are abandoning their studies and they will be definitively withdrawn from the programme (nor their place or the PhD topic will be saved).
  6. At the time of admission, the Academic Committee of each doctoral programme will provisionally assign a tutor and a thesis supervisor. In any case, the assignment of the supervisor will be made within a maximum period of three months from the first registration.The definitive tutor and supervisor assignment, as well as of co-supervisors whose need is duly justified, will be materialised with the acceptance of the Supervision Documentary Commitment of all those involved (PhD student, tutor, supervisor and, where appropriate, co-supervisors and, finally, coordinator) through the link that each of them will ultimately receive
  1. Students who are in their second and subsequent years of their doctoral studies must obtain the favourable evaluation of their doctoral programme from both the Activities Document and the Academic Committee Research Plan so as to renew their academic supervision.
  2. The evaluation process calendar will be approved each academic year by the EID Direction Committee (available at the top of this page).
  3. Every academic year, and until the defence of the thesis, the doctoral student will need to renew the academic supervision registration at the University of Castilla-La Mancha.
  4. Was the student to discontinue their studies, they should notify to the EID their definitive or temporary withdrawal from the programme. For the latest, please follow the procedure indicated in the following link: Application for temporary leave.
  5. In the event of withdrawal without having communicated their cease, whether temporary or definitive, the students will be considered as having abandoned their studies and, consequently, their place on the programme, losing the right to maintain the line of research and the title of the thesis.
  6. Students who defend their doctoral thesis before the 23rd of December and who were enrolled in the previous academic year are not required to renew their academic supervision.
  1. Students who are in their second and subsequent years of their doctoral studies must obtain the favourable evaluation of their doctoral programme from both the Activities Document and the Academic Committee Research Plan so as to renew their academic supervision.
  2. The evaluation process calendar will be approved each academic year by the EID Direction Committee (available at the top of this page).
  3. Every academic year, and until the defence of the thesis, the doctoral student will need to renew the academic supervision registration at the University of Castilla-La Mancha.

Those who started doctoral studies in UCLM according to previous regulations to current RD 99/2011 and they want to resume their doctorate must apply to admission as any other student.

The Permanent Commission of the Escuela International de Doctorado, EID, will be the organ in charge to resolve the doubts arose from the guidelines.
