This is a defense of artistic practice-based research, starting from the uncertainty and redefinition of four concepts: knowledge, subject, communication and context. From these uncertainties, four other categories arise: corporality, situation, process and commitment, without which research in the arts cannot be understood. In this text this field is reexamined, calling into question simplistic conceptions of scientific research and artistic practice, and some ways are proposed in which their intersection opens the road to a new type of academic practice.
