Summary

Jose Luis Valverde Palomino is BSc in Chemistry (Extraordinary End of Studies Award) and PhD in Chemistry (Chemical Engineering) (Extraordinary End of Studies Award) at the Complutense University of Madrid. Since 2003, he is Full Professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM). His research interest has been focused on Catalysis, Electrocatalysis, Synthesis of Carbon Nanomaterials (nanotubes, nanofibers, nanospheres and Graphene), which can be used as catalysts and in the formulation of composites used in construction (aerogels), nautical and aeronautical industries, and energy; microencapsulation of PCMs; Biomass Pyrolysis, Combustion and Gasification; and Simulation and Modelling of Chemical Processes. He is author and co-author of 71 chapters in books, 6 patents (one of them European one), and more than 260 papers in leading archival journals. Furthermore, he is and has been I.P. of 60 projects funded by the European Union (6), Spanish Government (10), Regional Government of Castilla-La Mancha (10) and contracts with private companies (33). The total funding achieved is higher than 10 MM €. He has supervised 16 PhD students and paid stays in the Universities of Leeds (UK), Kentucky (USA), Autónoma del Estado de Mexico (Mexico) and Claude Bernard-Lyon 1, He has been invited professor by the latter in the academic years: 2009-10 and 2015-16.

Currently, he is coordinator of the H2020 European Project H2020: NANOLEAP-646397: Nanocomposite for building constructions and civil infrastructures: European network pilot production line to promote industrial application cases, which is participated by 18 partners from 10 European countries. It started in January 2015 and will finish in June 2018. The total funding achieved is close to 6.9 MM €.

Furthermore, he has been and is scientific adviser of the Italian Company NANTO CleanTech devoted to the development of coating incorporating nanomaterials and the Spanish one Ingeniería 2000 devoted to the construction and commissioning of industrial equipment for the production of carbon nanomaterials. Likewise, he has been member of the scientific committee of the prestigious Summer School of Catalysis organized by IRCELYON

2013, 2015 and 2017.

He has been Secretary and Vice-dean of the Faculty of Chemistry at the UCLM and Secretary, Vice-head and Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering at the same university from 1993 to 2012.

Finally, he is accredited as Professeur des universités in the subjects: 62 – energétique, génie de procédés- y 31 – Chimie théorique, physique, analytique- granted by thel Ministère de l’Enseignement supérieur et de la Recherche (France) (number of accreditation: 1416226184).
