The Court of Auditors requests the regional government (JCCM) a multiannual funding plan for the UCLM

UCLM’s audit report 2013-2014

The audit report of the University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM) for the years 2013 and 2014, made public by the Court of Auditors (TCu), urges the autonomous community of Castilla-La Mancha to approve a multiannual funding plan to enable the university to have reliable funding forecasts so that it can draw up a strategic plan. Among its findings and conclusions, the report highlights the uncertainty faced by the UCLM to plan its activity as a result of the insufficient funding received and the delay in payments by the regional government, as well as by the absence of a stable funding framework and the inadequate authorization of staff costs dictated by the autonomous community to pay the university salaries.

Castilla-La Mancha is the third region investing less public funds on higher education

According to the Statistics for Public Expenditure of the Ministry of Education

According to this statistic of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport (MECD), which has been ongoing since 1992, Castilla-La Mancha allocated 180,929,200 euros to university education in 2014, equivalent to 0.5% of its domestic gross product (PIB), according to the Spanish Regional Accountancy compiled by the National Institute of Statistics. As a whole, the education authorities of the different regions spent more than 8,300 million euros on university education in 2014, excluding research and development (R & D), reaching 0.8% of all regional gross domestic products.

Funding per student at the UCLM was 18% below the rest of campus in Spain

Conference of Rectors results of 2015 report

The 2015 edition of the report “The Spanish University: Facts & Figures 2014-15” published by the Conference of Rectors of the Spanish universities (CRUE), considers that the University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM) receives less funds per student, that is, 18% below the average within 47 public Spanish universities. The insufficient funding of the UCLM rises up to 30,336,816 euros according to the results of this report.
